Overview
Two-step verification (also known as two-factor or multi-factor authentication) provides a much higher level of security for your TravelJoy account. It is strongly recommended for all members and required for members who take payments with TravelJoy, supplier or direct.
Once enabled, you'll be prompted for a one-time code when logging into your account from an unrecognized device or browser. Most members will find this code on their mobile phone using an installed authenticator app, while some members will receive their code via text message or phone call.
- Setup
- Authenticator app (recommended)
- Text message or phone call
- Change 2-Step verification method
- Logging in with a one-time code
- TravelJoy Accounts for Multiple Users
Setup
To activate this feature, head to Settings -> Security in TravelJoy and click the button labeled "Enable 2-Step Verification."
On the next screen, enter your phone number and click the "Next" button to continue.
Authenticator app (recommended)
We strongly recommend using an authenticator app to generate your one-time codes for a number of reasons. It's faster, easier, more secure, and works everywhere, even without mobile data coverage.
You can click the "iOS" or "Android" links on the screen to download an authenticator app during the setup process.
Once the app is installed, click "Next" and then scan the QR code on the screen. The app will provide a verification code. Type it into the box provided in TravelJoy and click "Enable 2-step verification." That's it!
Text message or phone call
While this method is less preferred for the reasons shared above, you can alternately choose to receive a text message or phone call with your verification code at the number provided the previous step.
If you choose this method, you'll receive a text message or phone call with your one-time code when logging into TravelJoy in the future.
Change 2-Step verification method
If you choose to change your 2-step verification method (Example: SMS to authenticator app) you can head over to Settings -> Security and click the "Change 2-Step Verification Method" button to begin making this update.
Logging in with a one-time code
When you log into TravelJoy from a new device or browser, you'll be prompted to enter a one-time code. Open Authenticator and find the code for TravelJoy. Each code is only valid for a short time.
Enter this code in the space provided, as seen below. If you are using a private computer, you can check the "Remember this device" box to skip typing one-time codes on this device and browser in the future.
(If you're not using an authenticator app, click "Request SMS" or "Request phone call" to receive your one-time code.)
Once you've entered your code, click "Sign in securely" to continue.
TravelJoy Accounts for Multiple Users
Sharing passwords and allowing multiple people to use the same login can be a security risk. To avoid this, we recommend using our Teams feature, which allows each member of your team to have their own login. You can learn more about this feature here.
However, if you need to share a password and a one-time code between multiple parties, we have the below recommendation:
Multi-Device Authentication App
Some authenticator apps, like Authy, allow for multi-device use. This means that one Authy account, set up under one phone number, can be used on multiple devices. You can learn more about this option in this guide from Authy's website.
If you do choose to use multi-device, it is important to keep an eye on the devices added, as this can limit the security of 2-Factor verification.
