Overview
With our itinerary builder, you can craft a single elegant group itinerary to share with all travelers, keep clients updated throughout their journey, and even include personalized items for individual travelers. Each itinerary features a trip overview, day-by-day travel plans, file attachments, and more. Your client can download an offline copy to reference while traveling or view their itinerary in the Itineraries by TravelJoy app!
Each group in TravelJoy can have only one itinerary. It is your client's "source of truth" for their group travels.
Create the itinerary
To get started from any group, click the blue "Create" button at the top-right, then choose "Group itinerary":
There are three sections in an itinerary:
- Title card: The title and short intro for your itinerary
- Sections: Breaks the itinerary down by date, location, etc.
- Items: Individual parts of the trip, such as flights, hotel stays, and tours
Additionally, there is one other feature to know about:Â
- Library: Reuse previously-used items or entire itineraries.
Title card
If you are planning a destination wedding for Cancun, Mexico, this might be an example title card:
The title card helps set expectations for your trip by providing an attention-grabbing title and an engaging short intro. By default, it uses the group's existing Group Photo, so click here if you need to change it. You can also add new photos to this card.
You'll add the title, intro, and any new photos in the editing panel to the right. You can also set a deposit and full price for the itinerary so that the clients know exactly what to expect:
The finished product can be reviewed at any time by clicking the "Preview" button at the top of the page.
Visibility
You may want to add details to your Group Itinerary that are meant for specific travelers and only visible to those travelers, like flights or personal excursions! To add individualized plans to your Itinerary for limited travelers, simply add a section or item and change the visibility from Everyone to Specific trips:
When you send out the Group Itinerary to everyone, these sections or items will only be visible to the selected Trips and the travelers within it! You can quickly differentiate between individualized plans when editing your Group Itinerary when you spot this icon:

Sections
A section header for a client on a multi-day trip to Cancun might look like this:
Sections are a flexible way to organize the layout of your itinerary. Maybe the best option is to break the trip down by day, with individual activities listed in chronological order. Maybe this is a multi-city visit and each section contains details for an individual city from the agenda!
Each section can contain as many items as you'd like. Click the "+ Add section" button and then edit the section name in the editing panel on the right:

To add an item or import a file, locate the blue "+ Add item" button just below the title card:Â
An item for a resort in Cancun might look like this:
By default, each item is part of your group's travels and visible to everyone! You can choose from a built-in list of item types that include special features related to that particular item. In the example above, we've chosen the "Lodging" item and added all of the resort details, so the card automatically imports the resort data and photos!
If your item doesn't fit any of the listed categories, you can still choose to create a general item. The item will have its own title and description:
Enhance your items with embedded videos, photos, and attachments! For the best layout, include at least one high-resolution photo per item. You can drag photos from your device or a website directly into the photo area, or import them by clicking "Add photos from website." Enter the URL, select the photos you want, and click "Add Photos." Use the red X to delete one photo or select multiple for bulk removal. To add a video, select "Add YouTube video to description" and paste your YouTube link into the provided box.
Send to your clients
When you're ready, click the blue "Preview & send" button. You will then be prompted with options for both the Group Itinerary and the linked Trip Itineraries:
The Group Itinerary options will provide you with a visual of all of the content that was indicated as visible to Everyone only! Below that, you can preview individual Trip Itineraries which will include any personalized sections or items. You'll have the option to send to all (if you have a custom domain connected) or an option to send individually to each trip within the group.
If you're not yet ready to send out the Itinerary, you can always leave the draft (it autosaves) and send it later from the Group Files tab. Click on the three dots of the Group Itinerary, select "Preview & send", and then you can select to send to all or send to individual trips:

I am very excited about this feature! Once the group itinerary is sent out, will there be an opportunity to customize it within the individual trips? For example - we may have a shared group itinerary but different flights/transfers based on the location of the individual guests. It would be great to send out the group itinerary and still be able to customize it based on flights and transfer times for the individual trips.
I too am wondering the same thing. Can we customize it for each individual with flight/hotel. Did you get an answer back yet?

Rhonda, yes, you can, and you can specify if it is only for a certain person/group of individuals or the whole group.Â
I have a group of 3 reservations with the exact itinerary - flights, hotels, car, etc. So the section/item information will be exactly the same for each client - but is there a way I can attach travel documents within each section just for each individual reservation? I would like to attach one hotel confirmation pdf per client, not all three.
