In TravelJoy, a trip means one person, usually the primary traveler, handles all decisions, payments and communication for a traveling unit (like a family or friends). A group involves multiple travelers or units where more than one person communicates with the agent. Even two friends may need a group if both require direct communication and paying separately. The group feature allows sending messages, forms, or invoices to everyone at once or individually.
Should I create a trip or a group?
To understand further, let's explain the functionality of a trip versus a group:
Trip
In TravelJoy, a trip has a primary traveler and additional travelers. The primary traveler receives all communications and is responsible for supplying documentation, approving proposals, and answering any questions from the agent.Â
While you can send an invoice to a non-primary traveler, everything else is handled solely by the primary traveler.
Group
In TravelJoy, a group is a collection of trips with a common destination or activity. You can communicate with each trip's primary traveler individually or send everyone a message, form, or invoice at once using our group functionality. This gives you ultimate control over individual and group communication.
Even if there are only two travelers, and they are friends staying in the same room, it may still be appropriate to create a two-trip group if both of them need to communicate with you individually.

Hi, the group trip maximum is 10. However, I need 20. Should I just do two separate groups? Or is there another way to increase the number of people in the group
Hi Shani Mack! Great question! There is no maximum for how many people can be added to a group. The 10 maximum is how many people can be added to one package. :)Â
Hi, I will have a group of 200 or more. I created a cruise and people from around the world will be attending. There are people on this cruise will be sharing a stateroom. Is there a way I can organize this? This is just the first one and I'll have multiple cruise. Please help
Hi Audrene! We would love to help you with your large group. When you have roommates booking separately, we recommend having them book separately as single travelers and then merging their bookings together. This guide goes over how in more detail.
If you have additional questions about your group, we recommend reaching out to our Support team so we can help you with this specific group as forum questions are answered more generally. You can reach out to us by emailing hello@traveljoy.com or by using the blue Support button in TravelJoy!Â
