Sometimes it's helpful for an assistant or team member to receive a copy of your notification emails from TravelJoy. While this cannot be accomplished within TravelJoy directly, your email app may provide the tools you need.
What are "rules" and "filters"?
An email app can be software installed on your device or a website you visit in your browser. Many of these apps offer a tool to help automate your email experience based on specific settings you provide. For example, you may ask this tool to automatically move new messages from family members to a "Family" folder, or add a "Family" label to the message.
Outlook refers to these tools as "rules," while Google Mail refers to them as "filters." For other apps, you may wish to review the documentation provided by the app provider or reach out to their support team for instructions. For simplicity, we'll call them "rules" from this point forward.
How do I set up a TravelJoy rule?
To get started, locate instructions for your email app's rule feature. You can find Google Mail instructions here, while Outlook instructions are here.
The most common rule for TravelJoy members involves automatically forwarding a copy of every TravelJoy notification to an assistant or (perhaps temporarily) a team member. For this, you'll want to add the settings below:
- Find messages from email addresses containing *traveljoy.com
- Forward a copy of those messages to your assistant/team member's email address
The asterisk ensures that the rule will work on all email messages from TravelJoy, so this part is important!
How else can I use rules?
Now that you know how they work, you can set up all kinds of rules to help yourself and your team stay organized! We've compiled a few of those options below, and we urge you to review your email app's full settings to discover even more.
- Organize all of your TravelJoy messages into one folder (or one "label" in Google Mail)
- Add a flag or star to messages from TravelJoy so that you'll be reminded to follow up
- Mark the message as important so that it is correctly prioritized
- When a team member is covering you on vacation, and you are temporarily forwarding a copy of notifications to them, automatically archive your own copy for a cleaner inbox upon your return
